Nobody Asked Us, But ...Proscenium Players tryouts nearing

Good news: On Sept. 19, Logan Andrew Wyatt was born to Christine and Chris Wyatt, and joins his big brother, Jack, as a member of the family. Congratulations to all. We've also heard that Al Nicholson and Jeffrey Scott are both recovering from health setbacks. Al is at the VA Hospital and would love a card or two. Jeffrey is at home resting, with his dad keeping him company. We're also glad to report that Charlie Abowd is up and around, and was seen at the Basque Festival hustling about, even though he probably should have been in bed with his foot up. God bless you all.

And sad news: Al Teixeira passed away last week (our former mayor's son). He was a great family man, son, brother, friend and a vital force with the youth of this community. He will be sorely missed. John Srch, husband of Terri Cox (who is the daughter of Pat Holub), also passed away at too young an age. Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to all of them.

Now for a goodie: Terry Beauchamp got this out of his hometown newspaper in Dreyton, N.D.: "Ole was a gifted portrait artist. His fame grew, and soon people from all over the country were coming to have their portraits done. One day, a beautiful woman came by and asked Ole if he would paint her in the nude. She said money was no object and was willing to pay $50,000. Not wanting to get in trouble with his wife, Ole asked the woman to wait while he went into the house and conferred with his missus. In a few minutes he returned and said to the lady, 'Ya shoor, you betcha, I'll paint ya in da nude, but I'll haf to leave my socks on ... I need a place to wipe my brushes.'" Well, of course!

May you enjoy your ice cream and cake. Ryan Lynskey (one of our favorite waiters) is still at ZBistro on Tuesdays, but is going to make it big in the world of poker (as a dealer, not a player). John Airlie got this off the Internet: "A thief in Paris planned to steal some paintings from the Louvre. He got past security, stole the paintings, and made it safely to his van. However, he was captured only two blocks away when his van ran out of gas. When asked why he made such an obvious error, he replied, 'Monsieur, that is the reason I stole the paintings. I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh.' See if you have De Gaulle to repeat this to someone else. You're reading it because we figured you had nothing Toulouse." Arrrrrrgh.
