Woman's body found in industrial park

The body of an elderly woman was found near the south end of the Tahoe Reno Industrial Park in Storey County Friday, the sheriff's office reported.

At about 6 p.m., the sheriff's office responded to a report of a dead person, several miles past the end of the pavement on USA Parkway.

Deputies responded to the scene and found an elderly while female who had been dead for several hours.

Assistant Sheriff Gerald Antinoro said there were no signs of foul play.

"While the exact cause of death has not yet been determined, there is no evidence or belief that the death was a result of a nefarious act," Antinoro said.

The Washoe County medical examiner was expected to perform an autopsy Saturday to determine the exact cause of death. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
