Bighorns hold on to first in West

RENO - The Reno Bighorns scored 32 points in the first quarter and never trailed Friday night, collecting their seventh-straight victory, 113-97, over the Bakersfield Jam in the Reno Events Center.

With the win, Reno (33-16) held on to its first-place standing in the Western Conference with just one regular season game remaining.

The Bighorns held a 32-13 lead after the first period and never looked back. Reno led by 20 at the break and went to the fourth quarter with a 25-point advantage.

Simmons led six Bighorns in double figures with 25 on the night. Marcus Landry scored 19 and Donald Sloan kicked-in 16 with nine assists.

The Bighorns and Jam will meet again on tonight to close out the regular season. Tip-time from the Jam Events Center is set for 7 p.m.
