Obituary: Norma Jean Wilcher

Norma Jean Wilcher, known to family and friends as Jean, was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 5, 2011. Her passing was very peaceful with her family and friends from the Circle of Life Hospice at her side.

She was 80 years old, arriving on Dec. 5, 1930, the youngest of seven children born to Mabel and Ed Frederick of Callaway, Neb.

Jean was preceded in passing by her parents, sisters Demaris McEntee and Marjorie Gerry, brothers EE "John" Frederick and Robert "Bob" Frederick.

She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Bill; their only child, James "Jim" Wilcher and his wife Kelly Wilcher; granddaughter Rachelle (Wilcher) Benge, husband Kyle Benge and their daughter Leighton; two grandsons Jordan and Griffin Wilcher; two sisters Donna Schuster and Bette Sievers; numerous nieces, nephews and sister-in-laws. She graduated from Callaway High School in Nebraska and attended Kearney State Teachers College in Nebraska. In younger years she was an elementary school teacher. In 1995 she retired as senior accountant after 30 years of service with Nevada state government.

Jean was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City. She served a term as a deacon. Our beloved Jean leaves us a legacy of unshakable devotion to God and her commitment to living a life of love, charity, honesty and integrity.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church, 115 North Division St., the Rev. Bruce Kochsmeier officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of Carson City, business office located at 306 West Musser St., Carson City, NV 89703, or the Circle of Life Foundation located at 1575 Delucchi Lane, Suite 214 Reno, NV 89502.
