130 YEARS AGO

It appears that the U.S. Mint, under Gen. Dodge entered into an agreement to refine the Northern Belle bullion at the expense of the government. Uncle Sam lost $22,000 which went into the pockets of the bank and mine. The Carson Mint had for some time been using the bullion to run the Mint.

100 YEARS AGO

"Mickey" Larsen has been killed at the Liberty mine in a very peculiar manner. While working the surface, Larsen was buried in a cave-in when he was carried down and buried in the debris. Coroner Atkinson and Deputy Chief Walker left for the mine this morning to hold an inquest.

70 YEARS AGO

U.S. Senator P. A. McCarran has announced that the house has passed S. 1480 which will increase public lands use for building an airport in Carson Valley. The base will be used for large bombers.

50 YEARS AGO

Yerington District Atty. Wayne Jeppson says he planned to close down the Triangle Ranch bawdy house near Wadsworth today, but delayed the action pending a report to the state attorney general.

20 YEARS AGO

Board of Supervisors approve changes to make four west side streets one-way on a temporary basis.

10 YEARS AGO

A jawbone found on a fence in Weeks is at least 100 years old and of European origin.
