A few days ago a lot of Carson youngsters were discussing where would be the best place to steal watermelons. "I'll tell ye the place to go; up to old ____________. He don't advertise in any of the papers and where a man don't show any enterprise you may be there's five or six holes in his fence and his shotgun hasn't been loaded up in a year." The boys thought the idea excellent and invaded the field only to find a clump of sagebrush and a few mullen stalks.

100 years ago

Some Feet: Two old farmers were seated in the parlor talking about life. "Talkin' of long feet, I seen some t'other day that both together made a yard," said the younger of the two. "Humph!" replied the other. "I once saw a man whose feet were so long he had to back up to the door to knock."

70 years ago

Carson has become "Shale City, Colorado" for the filming of Paramount's "The Remarkable Andrew." If you keep your eyes open, you will notice local dairy trucks bear the name "Shale City Creamery."

50 years ago
