Gala to support area guide dog teams and puppies in training

The Sierra Nevada Friends Committee of Guide Dogs for the Blind will host a champagne reception and luncheon featuring emcee Kristen Remington, KTVN Channel 2 news anchor, keynote speaker Carol Leamy with her guide dog, Volley, and plenty of adorable puppies.

The gala is 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Sept. 11 at The Grove, 95 Foothill Road, Reno.

The event starts with a champagne bar reception and raffle ticket sales from 11 a.m.-noon. Guests will also be able to meet and take photos wit the puppies. Lunch will be served at noon.

Cost is $100 per person and advanced reservations are required. Tickets area available at Guidedogs.com/events, or by calling (800) 295-4050, ext 4022.

Proceeds from "Dogs with Hearts of Gold III" will help support program and veterinary care costs of working guide dog teams and puppies-in-training in the Reno/Lake Tahoe region. Guide Dogs' exceptional breeding, kennel, puppy raising and training programs ensure that the dogs are prepared to reach their full potential.

Established in 1942, Guide Dogs for the Blind provides enhanced mobility and quality of life to people who are blind through lifetime partnerships with Guide Dogs. This non-profit organization, headquartered in San Rafael, Calif., is the largest school of its kind and has produced more than 11,000 partnerships across the United States and Canada.
