MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Cleveland Cavaliers matched the longest single-season losing streak in NBA history, dropping their 23rd straight with a 112-105 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
The Cavaliers tied the 1995-96 Grizzlies, then in Vancouver, and the 1997-98 Denver Nuggets. They can equal their own overall mark for futility with a loss in Saturday night's game at home against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Cleveland lost 24 straight games over the 1981-82 and 1982-83 seasons.
Zach Randolph had 29 points and 13 rebounds, Rudy Gay added 26 points and 11 boards, and the Grizzlies won their season-best fifth straight.
J.J. Hickson matched his career high with 31 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Cleveland, which hasn't won since a Dec. 18 overtime victory over the New York Knicks.
Cleveland gave Memphis all it could handle through the first three quarters, but the Grizzlies put together 13 straight points to open the fourth en route to their eighth win in nine games.
Mavericks 101, Celtics 97
BOSTON (AP) - Jason Kidd made a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left, putting Dallas ahead and leading the Mavericks to their seventh straight win.
The Celtics led 97-91, but the Mavericks scored the final 10 points. After Kevin Garnett missed an 18-foot jumper with 15 seconds to go, the Mavericks tried to go inside, but Dirk Nowitzki had trouble handling the ball and threw it to Kidd, who made his second 3-pointer of the game.
After a timeout, Boston's Rajon Rondo threw the ball over Garnett's head and out of bounds on an alley-oop play. Garnett then fouled Nowitzki, who made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left. Ray Allen then missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Boston.
Nowitzki led Dallas with 29 points while Allen topped Boston with 24.
Heat 109, Bobcats 97
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Dwyane Wade had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, showing no ill effects from a sore back, and Miami earned its fifth consecutive victory.
Wade wasn't sure he'd play up until about an hour before tip-off after getting hurt a night earlier, but he logged 40 minutes and led an efficient offense that shot 55 percent from the field.
LeBron James added 19 points, while former Bobcats guard Eddie House scored 16 and hit three consecutive 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter when the Heat took control.
Gerald Wallace broke out of his scoring slump with 25 points and Stephen Jackson also scored 25 for the Bobcats, who ran out of steam late as they returned from a 4-2 road trip.
Magic 110, Wizards 92
WASHINGTON (AP) - Dwight Howard had 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead Orlando to the victory in Gilbert Arenas' return to the Verizon Center.
While the pregame attention was on Arenas, Howard was the star of the game.
A night after playing all 48 minutes in a 104-100 loss to Miami, Howard made his first 10 field goals and didn't miss a shot until 2:20 remained in the third quarter.
In his first Washington appearance since being traded to the Magic for Rashard Lewis on Dec. 18, Arenas had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists. He checked in with 1:31 to play in the first quarter to a mostly warm reception.
Nick Young and Kirk Hinrich had 17 points apiece for the Wizards, who have lost seven straight and nine of 10.
Thunder 111, Suns 107
PHOENIX (AP) - Jeff Green scored 28 points and Serge Ibaka added 18 on 9-of-10 shooting, powering Oklahoma City to its fourth victory in five games.
Kevin Durant, who had at least 40 points in three of his previous four games, added 24 and Russell Westbrook scored 19, including an 11-footer that put Oklahoma City up 107-103 with 34 seconds to go.
Vince Carter scored a season-high 33 for Phoenix, but missed three long-range jumpers down the stretch as Oklahoma City outscored the Suns 12-5 over the last 2 1/2 minutes. No other player scored more than 13 for the Suns.
Carter was 1-of-7 shooting in the fourth quarter, missing his last five attempts.
Channing Frye scored 13 but made only 5 of 17 shots. Grant Hill and Steve Nash added 12 apiece for Phoenix.
Spurs 113, Kings 100
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Tony Parker had 25 points and seven assists, directing San Antonio to the win.
One night after squeaking by the Los Angeles Lakers 89-88 on Antonio McDyess' tip at the buzzer, the Spurs built an early double-digit lead against the Kings.
Tyreke Evans had 25 points and Beno Udrih scored 18 for the Kings. Carl Landry scored 17 points and Darnell Jackson added 11. Rookie center DeMarcus Cousins was limited to seven points and 10 rebounds.
The Spurs (42-8) own the NBA's best record and have won two straight and 13 of 15. They are 2-1 on their nine-game road trip, their longest of the season.
Raptors 111, Timberwolves 100
TORONTO (AP) - Andrea Bargnani scored 30 points, DeMar DeRozan had 20 and Toronto snapped a 13-game losing streak.
Jose Calderon tied his career high with 19 assists as the Raptors won for the first time since a home victory over Sacramento on Jan. 2. Toronto has won seven straight home games against Minnesota.
The Timberwolves, 2-23 away from home this season, lost their sixth straight on the road.
Selected to All-Star game earlier in the day, Minnesota's Kevin Love had 20 points and 15 rebounds for his 35th straight double-double. Sebastian Telfair had 16 points for the Timberwolves, who have lost eight of nine and 13 of 15.
Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley left late in the second quarter with an injured left ankle and did not return.
Hawks 101, Clippers 100
ATLANTA (AP) - Al Horford made two free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining following a flagrant foul by Blake Griffin, giving the Hawks the win.
Griffin sent Marvin Williams and Horford to the floor with hard fouls in the final seconds. The last was the most costly, though Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro argued against the flagrant 1 ruling.
Jamal Crawford had 34 points and Atlanta's two All-Stars had big games: Horford had 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Joe Johnson added 17 points, nine assists and nine rebounds.
Baron Davis had 22 points and 13 assists for Los Angeles. Griffin, the NBA's first rookie All-Star selection since Yao Ming in 2003, had 19 points and 11 rebounds.
76ers 100, Knicks 98
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Elton Brand scored a season-high 33 points and Philadelphia used a 15-0 run late in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Andre Iguodala had 18 points and a career-high 16 assists, and Jodie Meeks scored 14 for the 76ers, who are trying to catch the Knicks for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Knicks seemingly had the game under control in the fourth until they self-destructed during a scoreless stretch that lasted more than 6 minutes and let the Sixers race into the lead.
Brand scored 19 points in the first quarter, then chipped in with big buckets in the fourth to send a crowd of nearly 20,000 into a frenzy.
Raymond Felton led the Knicks with 26 points and Amare Stoudemire had 21. Danilo Gallinari had 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Pacers 100, Trail Blazers 87
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Danny Granger scored 25 points and the Pacers improved to 3-0 under interim coach Frank Vogel.
Granger was questionable with a sinus infection, but he shot 7 for 13 from the field to help Indiana earn its first winning streak of more than two games this season.
Roy Hibbert scored 15 points and Tyler Hansbrough added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Pacers, who are averaging 107 points since firing Jim O'Brien.
Rudy Fernandez scored 19 points for the Trail Blazers, who have lost four of five. LaMarcus Aldridge had 14 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out with 9:53 remaining.
Pistons 92, Nets 82
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Tayshaun Prince scored 22 points, and the Pistons snapped a four-game losing streak.
Rookie Greg Monroe added a career-high 20 points along with 11 rebounds for Detroit, which led by 13 early in the third quarter after beginning the second half on a 14-5 run. Tracy McGrady scored 16 points, and Ben Gordon added 11.
Anthony Morrow had 22 points for New Jersey, which lost its 12th straight road game and dropped to 3-24 away from home on the season. Brook Lopez scored 16.
Detroit led 48-44 after shooting 55 percent from the field in the first half and never trailed in the second.
