(AP) - A former chairman of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce has been appointed by Gov. Brian Sandoval to the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.

Steven D. Hill is also chairman of Service 1st Bank of Nevada. He founded Silver State Materials, a concrete, sand and gravel supplier that was purchased in 2008 by CalPortland in 2008. Hill still serves as a vice president for the company.

Sandoval says Hill's business experience gives him first-hand knowledge Nevada needs to bring new companies to the state and help existing businesses grow.
