Leonard Mathews, 96, died Jan. 4, 2011, in Yerington. He was born Dec. 22, 1914, in Oklahoma to Ed and Nora Mathews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise and son Thomas Mathews. He is survived by son Leonard Guy Mathews (Annie); daughters LaNora Clyde (Richard), Nancy Jarvis (Garry) and Kay Starley; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Jan. 11 at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington. He will be buried beside his wife in the Yerington cemetery. Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
