Carson City's Regional Transportation Commission meets this week to take action on a proposed bus disposal plan which includes sending one bus to auction and the other to the Carson City Recreation Division.

With the acquisition of five replacement buses to the Jump Around Carson fleet, it became possible to retire two of the older buses. Staff twice sent notices to area governmental entities and nonprofits, but received only one request from the city's recreation division.

The commission will also consider approving the purchase of one Eldorado National Passport 35-foot, low-floor transit bus from Creative Bus Sales, Inc. for about $213,000.

Other city government meetings this week:

• The Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization meeting

for Wednesday has been canceled.

• The Carson City Historic Resources Commission meets this week to elect a commission chairman and discuss qualifications as outlined in the municipal code.

Commissioners also will discuss their annual report which is to be forwarded to the board of supervisors in February.

Also on the agenda is a discussion of the 2010 Historic Preservation Fund grant.

The Historic Resources Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the community center. For more information, call 887-2180.
