The day tour starts at
9 a.m. with a talk by two docents at the Dayton Valley Historical Museum, where there is a pictorial display of the old town of Sutro and the Sutro Tunnel.
A short walk takes participants to the first jail, firehouse, and Pony Express station and to the location of Nevada's first gold discovery. A tour of Steven Saylor's Evergreen Studio follows.
After a no-host lunch at Compadres Restaurant, the tour continues to Dayton's cemetery where Old Virginny (Virginia City's namesake) and other notables are buried. The tour ends with a walk through the remains of Rock Point Mill.
