A 21-year-old convicted sex offender was arrested Monday after allegedly failing to notify the Carson City Sheriff's Office of a new address.

During a follow-up investigation, Zachary Andrew Applewhite told a deputy that he had been living at his girlfriend's residence on the 1500 block of Como Street for about two months after leaving his home on the 3900 block of Pheasant Drive.

The deputy told Applewhite that he was required to notify the Sheriff's Office within 48 hours of moving and arrested him at 10:05 a.m. on suspicion of being a convicted sex offender failing to register a new address, a felony. The original conviction was on a gross misdemeanor.

Bail was set at $7,500.
