The Carson High Football Boosters Club is gearing up for its annual Senator Football Kickoff Dinner on August 13th.

The dinner is at 6:30 and hosted by Mo & Sluggos on downtown Curry St. between Telegraph and Spear. The evening will include the recent Hall of Fame inductees, dinner, music, silent auction, raffle prizes and a 32-inch flat screen TV as the door prize.

In addition, this year a Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4X4 which will be at all of our events. Ticket sales for this item will start the first of July and run through the end of the football season, including the playoffs if Carson makes it. The drawing for the winner will take place after the season.

get scholarships

Connor Eppard, Sean Potkay and Sean Dwyer have committed to play baseball at four-year schools starting in the fall.

In the past three years, 27 WNC baseball players have signed with Division I schools, and others have moved on to Division II and III schools.

Eppard has signed with the University of Utah of the new Pac-12 conference. Eppard was the Wildcats' starting centerfielder. He earned the 2011 Thomas Miller Award as the team's MVP.

Potkay will play at Tulane University in New Orleans. Tulane is a member of Conference USA and a former College World Series participant. Potkay hit fourth and played first base for the Wildcats.

Dwyer heads to New Mexico State University, joining teammate Pat McMeel, who signed with NMSU in November. Dwyer graduated from WNC with a 3.96 GPA and was named an Academic All-American in his sophomore season. He earned the Chad Walling Award as the player who most exemplifies the character of a Wildcat - the most prestigious baseball honor given at Western.

Eppard, Potkay and Dwyer join the D-I ranks with previously signed teammates Kody Gorden and Brooks Klein, University of Nevada; Kevin Taylor, Arizona State University; McMeel, New Mexico State University; and Tim Peterson and Chris Garrison, University of Kentucky.

Osborne camp set

for Carson High

Former Carson High and St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Donovan Osborne is hosting a baseball camp Friday at 9 a.m. at Carson High School.

The camp, sponsored by the Carson Community Center, costs $75. Part of the proceeds go to the Austism Coalition of Nevada. Donovan and Herah Osborne have twin 7-year-olds who suffer from Fragile X Syndrome, the leading genetic cause of autism.
