After 82 years of serving Jesus, Bonnie Lewis went home to be with her Lord on June 3, 2011. Bonnie was born to loving parents, Dillard "DJ" and Edna Decker in Quincy, Ill. Before her first birthday, the little family moved to Campbell, Calif., making the trek in a Model T. In high school, Bonnie met her prince, Larry Lewis. The two married in 1947. During their 45-year marriage, they were blessed with three children. In 1962, they moved to Reno. Bonnie's expertise in the kitchen and with needlework provided many treasured gifts for her family and friends. She passed these skills on to her daughters. In her Bible, Bonnie wrote: "You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving." She lived that statement, always taking the time to give of herself to those that she loved.

Bonnie was an active member of Calvary Chapel in Carson City where she helped establish the We Care Widows Group. She loved her church family and held dear the many treasured friends she found there. Grammy Bonnie's memory and godly legacy are cherished by her survivors: son Mark Lewis, wife Kyle, and grandsons Jordan, Cameron, Damon, and Brint of Reno; daughter Pam Katzorke, husband Edward, grandchildren Bonnie Benson, Jen Dalton, Kurt Katzorke of Carson City, and Christine Ahl of Lake Placid, N.Y.; and daughter Marlene Lewis of Carson City. In addition there are seven great-grandchildren who fondly remember playing games at Grammy's house and eating her delicious pancakes.

Bonnie's earthly body is laid to rest beside her precious husband, Larry, at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Fernley. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. June 18, 2011, at Calvary Chapel at 1635 Clearview Drive, in Carson City.
