WNC softball splits with Snow College

RICHFIELD, Utah - Western Nevada College's softball team split its Scenic West Conference doubleheader with Snow College Friday afternoon.

Snow won the opener

6-4, while the Wildcats (3-10) took the nightcap 9-7.

It very easily could have been a WNC sweep. WNC led in the opener 4-1, but Snow scored five times in the fifth to win the game.

Cassie Vondrak took the loss. She scattered seven hits and struck out nine.

Melanie Pfeiffer went 2-for-4 with a double, while Sarah Cuddahy went 2-for-3. Ashley Gleason went 1-for-2 with a run-scoring double while Megan Hein went 1-for-3 with a run-scoring single. Niki DiSera drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

In the nightcap, Vondrak's double tied the game at 3 in the third. Snow scored twice in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead, but WNC countered with four in the fifth and two in the sixth to take a 9-5 lead.

Melanie Pfeiffer drove in two runs and Cuddahy drove in a run to highlight the fifth inning. Vondrak drove in two runs in the sixth.

Hein went 3-for-4 and scored twice, Vondrak went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs and Cuddahy went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Gleason went 1-for-2 and scored three runs.
