PHOENIX - Carlos Gonzalez hit his first home run of the spring and Jason Hammel pitched shutout ball for Colorado.

Oakland manager Bob Geren and first baseman Daric Barton were ejected after they argued a call at first base in the seventh inning.

Hammel, the Rockies' No. 4 starter, outpitched right-hander Trevor Cahill, slated to get the ball on opening day for the A's. Hammel gave up four hits in 5.1 innings, walked one and struck out three. Cahill went seven innings, giving up seven hits and three runs - two earned - while striking out five. He did not walk a batter.

Giants 8, Indians 5 (SS)

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Grady Sizemore ran, dove and slid without incident in another important test in his recovery from knee surgery for Cleveland.

Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong worked 4.2 innings in a different type of impressive comeback. The right-hander is vying for a roster spot after pitching three years in Japan and another in the minors.

Sizemore ran full speed for a triple hit over his head in center field, dove for a bloop single in front of him and slid in with a hustling double in his most action since having microfracture surgery on his left knee in June.

Shin-Soo Choo and Carlos Santana homered off Vogelsong.

Giants (ss) 9, Reds 6

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Giants starter Tim Lincecum and Cincinnati reliever Aroldis Chapman both struggled as San Francisco's split squad beat the Reds.

Lincecum, set to start on opening day at Dodger Stadium, gave up six runs and 11 hits in five innings.

The hard-throwing Chapman faced five batters and didn't get any of them out. He allowed four hits and five runs.

Andres Torres had three hits and drove in four runs for the Giants, who scored six times in the sixth.

San Francisco second baseman Freddy Sanchez left in the fifth inning after taking a knee to the helmet when sliding into second base.
