The Boys & Girls Clubs of Silver Springs will be updating the community on progress and seeking committee volunteer at a town Hall meeting 7 p.m. June 1 at the Pony Express Building between Silver Springs middle and elementary schools.

Chief Professional Officer Travis Crowder, Director of Program Development Christina Hurt and Silver Springs Unit Director Karen Spencer will update the community on the need for a group of dedicated individuals who wish to assist and help organize efforts to raise funds an awareness.

The Boys & Girls Club of Silver Springs have been serving youth for two years, receiving support from the Lyon County School District.

However, help is needed from the community to accommodate some low-income families.

They will also address the possible change in school hours and how the Boys & Girls Club can assist.

More than 200 youth attend the Boys & Girls Club site located at the Pony Express Building, with more than 50 youth attending daily.

Last summer, 3,033 free meals were served and 5,528 free dinners were served this school year.
