We will be having an election in a couple of months to choose our U.S. Representative and later, at the following elections, to choose various officials.

I've wondered how they know to call at the times I don't want to talk with them.

If you do not want the various political telephone calls, there is something you can do.

The Carson City Clerk's Office in the building on Musser Street is located on the first floor at the far west end of the building.

You can go there and fill out a form to request your name and information NOT be given to any political party or candidate when they request information on registered voters.

The Clerk's Office employees will explain that they can not guarantee you won't be called. The other records such as telephone books or prior years information the party or candidate might have, could allow the telephone call information.

The employees in the Clerk's Office are very friendly and helpful. The form is just asking for your name and mailing address and signature.

There is no fee to fill out the form.

After the form is completed, they enter the change in their computer system that says you do not want any political telephone calls or mail. Then, when someone orders a list of voters, they will make it known you do not want telephone calls or mail from political parties or candidates.

If you prefer to do this request by mail, you can write to the Clerk's Office at 885 East Musser St., Carson City, NV 89701. The office telephone number is 887-2087. All you need to do is be sure to make the request: print your name, sign the request and include your address so they can enter the request in their computer files.

This will not absolutely prevent the various politically related telephone calls but it should reduce the number of calls.
