'Turning the Corner' Critical Issues Conference scheduled

Business owners and lawmakers will once again converge for the 17th annual Critical Issues Conference, "Turning the Corner," 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at Carson Valley Inn in Minden.

Organized by the Business Council of Douglas County, the event will provide an economic overview of Nevada's economy.

Sam Shad of Nevada Newsmakers will moderate the conference. State Assemblyman Kelly Kite, State Sen. James Settelmeyer, and U.S. congressional candidate Mark Amodei will share their views on the economy. U.S. Sen. Dean Heller also is scheduled to contribute to the discussion.

Back by popular demand, the keynote speaker will be Jim Rounds, senior vice president and senior economist with Elliott D. Pollack and Company. Rounds specializes in preparing economic analyses for both public and private sector organizations, including economic overviews related to the national and state economies.

He has extensive expertise in matters of economics, finance, rural and urban economic development, public policy, taxation, real estate analysis and litigation.

Additionally, members of local utility companies will discuss the future of infrastructure in Douglas County, including Internet service.
