Obituary: Ruby H. Perez

Ruby H. Perez passed away on Nov. 18, 2012 with her family by her side in Carson City, Nev. She was born on April 30, 1931 in Maui, Hawaii. Ruby graduated from Baldwin High School in Wailuku, Maui. She retired from the Nevada State Printing Office as a supervisor and was a member of the Local Printers Union. Ruby enjoyed painting portraits, quilting, cake decorating, martial arts, and swimming. While painting was her passion, spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Ruby was a devoted wife of Vincent G. Perez for 58 years. She is also survived by her five children, Nenita Wasserman, Suemi Atherton and her husband, Hilton Atherton II, Naomi Cogliandro, Marisa Perez, and Victor Perez; three grandchildren, Nicole Martinkus, Alexander Wasserman, and Hilton Atherton III; and four siblings, Ethel Kaneshiro, Tadashi Matayoshi, Derek Matayoshi and Susanne Matayoshi; and many relatives.

Ruby was known for her beautiful smile and heart of gold. She was a wonderful and loving friend, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and wife. She will be greatly missed. With love, we will always cherish her memory in our hearts.

A private family service will be held.
