Crews from Facilities Management Inc., of Carson City, tear down the NDOT Landmark building near Frontage Road and Arthur Street on Tuesday. Nevada Department of Transportation spokesman Scott Magruder said NDOT has owned the building since at least the 1990s. The building was used as spare offices for NDOT employees, who have since moved to the new building on Roop Street. Before being torn down it was recently used for training exercises. The building was torn down in preparation for phase 2B-2 of the Carson Freeway Project. Phase 2B-2, which is in the bidding process, will include construction of the Snyder Avenue overpass, along with drainage and utility work. Work is expected to start in early 2013.
