130 YEARS AGO

Yesterday two men, one named Lewis Robinson and the other Henry Nichols, a coachman for Colonel Laughton, got into an altercation in front of Koppel & Platt's store and eventually drew knife and pistols, which were not used in a manner that would please taxpayers, who are tired of boarding these worthless street brawlers. No officer was present to make an arrest and none of those present cared enough to swear out a complaint.

100 YEARS AGO

After having enjoyed his liberty for a brief 24 hours, George Ramsey was captured by prison employee Frank Nevin and Mike Nevin, chief of police in Virginia City. They simply walked up on Ramsey when he was walking down the street. The arrest was made without trouble.

70 YEARS AGO

Spooners, the new skiing development on U.S. Route 50, played host to a large and enthusiastic crowd of skiers Sunday. Skiers pronounced the ski slopes and facilities to be the finest in the state.

Ray Walker, 17, who lives at the Nevada State Children's Home, is the principal appointment of Senator Howard W. Cannon to the Naval Academy.

The committee studying the naming of the new Corbett School can't shake the name Three Trees. Corbett School was originally named for the street.

The first "land bank" deal on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe goes before the state's board of examiners - guaranteeing 2.3 acres of land be protected from development in Incline Village.
