James Burke and Frank Graham, the professional cracksmen who stole 1,500 cigars from George Wiffenbach's saloon a few nights ago were let off too easy before Judge Cary's court on a petty larceny charge, when they should have been charged with burglary. Both have served terms in the Nevada State Prison and San Quentin. Upon their release any protracted stay here will be anything but healthy.

Quite a large crowd congregated at the Valley Park Grounds yesterday to witness the ball game between the Gardnerville nine and the Carson boys. It proved to be a very good and interesting baseball game with the Gardnerville boys winning 9 to 7.

The Ormsby County Victory garden committee has announced scoring for gardens under the committee's supervision. There also are segments for junior victory gardens.

Mrs. Charlotte H. Shannon, a life-time resident of the Carson area, died at Carson-Tahoe hospital today. Mrs. Shannon was the widow of Fay Shannon. Mrs. Shannon and her husband were affiliated with the Glenbrook resort at Lake Tahoe for many years.
