Carson City

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail over the weekend. All are innocent until proved guilty in court.

• Michael A. Conley, 29, of Rio Linda, Calif., was arrested Friday afternoon on felony charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and possession of an ounce or more of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

At about 4:20 p.m. a deputy witnessed a black Jeep run a red light, according to the arrest report. After the deputy wrote the ticket, he smelled a faint odor of marijuana and asked if there was any in the car. The driver admitted to having some hash in his pocket and agreed to have a drug-sniffing dog search the vehicle. The dog found about 6.6 ounces of marijuana in the car. The driver provided his California medical marijuana card and said he had driven to Carson City in a hurry but he thought his card would make it OK for him to have marijuana. His bail was $18,500.

• William W. Hornbeck, 41, and Eduardo Juanez Leon, 42, both of Carson City, were arrested on felony charges Friday night. Hornbeck was arrested on three felony failure-to-appear warrants out of Reno. Leon was charged with harboring a fugitive.

At about 9:20 p.m., members of the sheriff's Special Enforcement Team made contact with Hornbeck at Leon's home due to the warrants. Leon told the officers that he let Hornbeck stay there despite knowing about the warrants, according to the arrest report. Hornbeck was given no bail. Leon's bail was set at $10,000.

• A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with gross misdemeanor battery on a police officer and misdemeanor charges of trespassing and resisting a peace officer. The man had allegedly returned to a store he had been banned from. When an officer tried to arrest him at an apartment complex, the man became enraged, screaming profanities, yelling and resisting the officer, according to the arrest report. The deputy pulled the man to the ground and sat on him, where the man then started grabbing and pinching at the deputy and ripping the deputy's pants, according to the report. His bail was $3,650.

• A 31-year-old Reno man was arrested Saturday night and charged with gross misdemeanor assault on a peace officer and misdemeanor charges of second-offense driving under the influence and reckless driving. An off-duty officer had been following the man because he had seen his car hitting curbs and almost hitting another vehicle, according to the arrest report. The man got out of a car to confront the officer and, despite the officer flashing his badge, charged at him. His bail was $5,500.
