Lovelock sweeps Dayton volleyball

Dayton fell to Lovelock in three games Friday night. The Dust Devils were led by Madison Foley with five aces, 14 kills and 16 digs. Peach Coons added 14 assists and six digs. Ashley Vickers contributed 10 digs and seven kills. Alyse Fletcher was solid with 10 assists for the Dust Devils.

Coach Monica Halverson said the team "played some amazing volleyball." She was happy with the team's passing, but said it needed to work on its short game.

Dayton hosts Fallon on Friday.

Douglas tops Galena

Shawnee McFadden had six kills, 10 digs and an assist to help Douglas to a 23-25, 22-25, 25-14, 25-23 and 15-11 come-from-behind win over Galena.

Jenna Broussard contributed eight kills, 1.5 blocks and five digs, while Katie McCullough had eight kills, 1.5 blocks and five digs, Shelby Van Winkle finished with 25 assists, while Ariah Barth had 20 digs and two aces.

Douglas is 9-12 overall and 5-7 in Division I play.

Yerington wins in five

Yerington knocked off Fernley in five games Friday night. Yerington won 26-24, 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, and 15-12.

Leading Yerington was Kassidy Lommori with 17 kills and 13 digs. Chloe Dane added eight kills and 20 digs. Savena Rogers added 17 assists.

Yerington is 4-2 in league and 21-7 overall.

Tennis

Breeding falls in second round

Carson's Katy Breeding lost 6-1, 6-3 to Reno's Gina Glogovac in the second round of the Division I regional tennis tournament on Friday.

Breeding, the only Carson High player to make it through the first day, was the No. 6 seed. Glogovac is the No. 3 seed.

CROSS COUNTRY

Dayton seventh in Sparks

Aaron Elissa finished fourth to lead the Dayton cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the Sparks Invitational at Rancho San Rafael Park on Friday.

The 5K race featured 20 teams on the boys side. The teams were from Division I to Division 3.

Elissa ran in 17:54. Skyler Rose was 26th (19:06), Joe Law was 32nd (19:20), Nick Langstaff was 52nd (20:17), Phillip Hevener was 84th (21:09) and David White was 91st (21:20).

On the girls side, Katrina Breithaupt was second in 20:26. Hanna Elissa was 66th in 25:28.
