The Oasis Bighorns made a splash in their first-ever regular-season lacrosse game.

The Bighorns defeated the Spanish Springs Cougars, 9-2, on Saturday. The Bighorns took the early lead in the game and never looked back.

Victor Sanchez and Walter Rooks each had two goals, and Rooks added two assists. Kaden Stone, Morgan McAlexander, Trent Thorn and Anthony Lombardo also scored for the Bighorns.

With 10 seconds left in the third quarter, Cade Barton scooped up a ground ball deep in the Bighorns end of the field and made a full-field run to score from 15 yards out just as the horn sounded for his first goal of the season.

The Bighorns stuck to their game plan and kept the Cougars in their own end of the field for most of the game with a combination of good possession time and aggressive riding on turnovers to get the ball back.

The 1-0 Bighorns host the Truckee Tribe at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Churchill Regional Fields.
