A fundraiser for Jon Short, a cancer patient, is set for 6 p.m. Friday at the Churchill Arts Center.
Mike Berney, a friend of Short’s, said a free movie, “Trouble with the Curve,” will be viewed, although patrons will be asked for donations. Proceeds will help cover medical costs.
Berney said Short has finished treatments for a form of throat cancer and future tests are pending to determine if the cancer is in remission.
Short coached as an assistant with the Fallon softball for about 15 years and won two state titles. He came to Fallon, Berney said, about 30 years ago and worked as a fire inspector at Naval Air Station Fallon.
“He’s a great guy and has a sense of humor,” Berney said. “It’s just a bunch of friends trying to help.”
