2 sentenced in Medicaid fraud case

Two women have been convicted of fraud for submitting false Medicaid claims, double-billing the government for “equine-facilitated therapy.”

Suzanne Pindell, 64, of Forks of Salmon, Calif., and Terra Shepherd, 44, of Chico, Calif., owned the behavioral health company Health Therapy of Nevada in Washoe Valley.

The crimes are misdemeanors. The two were ordered to make restitution and pay penalties and costs of prosecution totaling $30,000.
