Lowry 43, Dayton 28

WINNEMUCCA - Lowry High blanked Dayton in the first quarter en route to 43-28 Division I-A girls basketball win on Friday night.

Lowry led 6-0 after one, but the Dust Devils rebounded with a 9-5 surge in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 11-9. Lowry outscored Dayton 18-10 to build a double-digit lead, 29-19, which was more than enough.

"We couldn't get anything going in the first quarter," Dayton coach Cliff Serawop said. "Our defense was pretty good. We made them earn their points. We didn't give them anything."

What also didn't help Dayton was the fact that top scorer Marbel Ledezma was held scoreless. Lettie Lynch led Dayton with seven points.

"If they hold her, it's going to be a long day," Serawop said. "They really keyed on her. She had some opportunities to score."
