The Fallon Chapter of the University of Nevada Alumni Association will host a bus trip to the season-opening football game on Sept. 7.
The University of Nevada, Reno and Wolf Pack Athletics will honor the contributions former football head coach Chris Ault has made to the athletic program by naming the field at Mackay Stadium after the College Hall of Fame inductee.
Chris Ault Field at Mackay Stadium will be unveiled at the Pack’s home opener against UC Davis. New Nevada Athletic Director Doug Knuth and football coach Brian Polian led the effort to name the field for Ault, who left an indelible footprint on the University of Nevada, Wolf Pack athletics and college football.
The cost for this bus trip is $50 per person, which includes bus transportation to and from the game, drinks and snacks on the bus, reserved seating, a discount coupon from Silver and Blue Outfitters and the name of the Fallon Chapter of the UNR Alumni Association on the scoreboard at the stadium. The price for season ticket holders is $25 for the bus portion of the trip.
Game time is yet to be determined, but the alumni group urges individuals to reserve their seats now in order to be part of the historic day as they celebrate Ault’s 28-year career at Nevada, and his monumental record of 233 wins. He left a lasting legacy of accolades and contributions to the game, perhaps none of which is greater than his creation of the “Pistol Offense” in 2005, a scheme now employed by hundreds of teams at every level of football.
In addition, Polian, has brought new and exciting changes for players and fans alike. He will start new traditions including the Wolf Pack Walk, where the players exit the team bus before the game and welcome fans. Also, the players will join the student section after the game to sing the Alma Mater.
