The subject of a Topaz Ranch Estates manhunt using dogs and a helicopter turned himself in peacefully on Friday afternoon.

Gary “Buck” Wilson, 44, faces a charge of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon among other charges in the nonfatal shooting of a man on 2:15 p.m. Thursday.

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini announced Wilson was no longer at large at 3:45 p.m., and was in the Douglas County Jail.

Wilson reportedly fired a shotgun at the victim who was treated and released for a superficial shoulder wound. Howell said the weapon had been recovered.

Wilson, who works for the TRE General Improvement District, was the subject of an alert on Thursday that said Wilson should be considered armed and dangerous, and advising residents to lock their doors.

At the height of the search Thursday, the sheriff’s office had enlisted the services of Washoe County’s RAVEN helicopter, which searched the hills above Topaz Ranch estates.

More than a dozen deputies and investigators were on scene Thursday with two canine officers. Deputies spent Friday contacting and re-contacting Wilson’s relatives and acquaintances, before he turned himself in.
