An investigation into the death last month of a Fallon woman discovered in her residence is still ongoing, the Fallon Police Department reported on Tuesday.
Wendy Kwapich-Mossi, 40, was found dead on June 11 in her home at the Ideal Mobile Home Park.
Fallon Police Chief Kevin Gehman said no determination regarding the manner of death of has been received from the Washoe County Medical Examiners Office.
“When we receive the forensic report from the lab we are hopeful it will provide some clarity and direction on this tragic event,” he said in a statement.
Even though the Fallon Police Department’s monthly activity report presented at the City Council meeting Tuesday night showed one homicide, that statistic does not represent official findings.
“Until it is determined, we have been investigating the incident assuming the worse case scenario and following criminal investigative protocol,” he said.
The initial autopsy report indicated she died from a sharp force instrument.
Gehman said officers were called to the residence on June 11 when they discovered the body of Kwapich-Mossi. The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office and the Washoe County Forensic Team assisted at the scene, according to Gehman.
Kwapich-Mossi (Wendy Joy Vincent) was still in junior high school when her family moved to Fallon in 1983. She graduated from Churchill County High School in 1991 and also attended what was then Western Nevada Community College (WNCC).
She attended college in New York, where she received her degree as a licensed veterinary technician, according to her obituary.
