The Fallon Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of an accreditation program to verify it meets the highest professional standards and best-practices in law enforcement today.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.

As part of the on-site assessment, members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Monday at 7 p.m. The session will be conducted in the Fallon City Hall Council Chambers, 55 W. Williams Ave.

The public is also invited to offer comments to the Assessment Team by calling 775-423-4864 between the hours of 2-4 p.m. on Monday.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with accreditation standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Fallon Police Department, 55 W. Williams Ave.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Fallon Police Department’s ability to comply with accreditation standards may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155. Persons may also submit written comments by email to calea@calea.org and place “Fallon Police Department” in the subject line.
