A former supervisor and a former city-county planner, as well as three projects, won recognition from the Carson City Historic Resources Commission.

The Thursday HRC action will lead to public recognition by the Board of Supervisors in April, according to City Planner Lee Plemel, who identified Shelly Aldean and Jennifer Pruitt as the people winning the awards given annually to projects or persons for outstanding achievements in historic preservation.

Aldean is a business owner and was a supervisor from 2003 until she left office earlier this year. Pruitt was a Carson City planner and staffed the Historic Resources Commission. She was on board from 2001-2012.

The projects recognized include the Fitzsimmons property project of 2010, which included a new fence and a front porch renovation and is at 411 N. Division St.; the Shefrin residence project of 2011, which included window replacement, the addition of French doors and two decks at 604 W. Robinson St.; and the Warren Engine Co. project of 2012, which included a chemical fire engine renovation.
