RENO (AP) — Retired Nevada Supreme Court chief justice Bob Rose is recovering at a Fallon hospital from injuries he suffered in a rollover accident on U.S. Highway 50.

State Supreme Court spokesman Bill Gang says the 73-year-old Rose injured his ribs and sternum in Monday morning’s crash but the injuries are not considered life-threatening

District Judge Thomas Stockard says he visited Rose at Banner-Churchill Community Hospital, where he found him to be in pain, but lucid and already concerned about who would preside over drug court hearings for Fallon, Hawthorne and Yerington.

Now a senior judge, the 25-year veteran of the judiciary was headed there from his home in Carson City about 7:30 a.m. when the Nevada Highway Patrol says he allowed his eastbound 2002 Nissan SUV to drift across the westbound lanes and strike a power pole near York Street in Fallon.
