Second campaign funding reports from candidates due Friday

(Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau) — Candidates running in municipal elections across the state have until Friday to file their second campaign contributions and expense report.

The reports must all be filed electronically through the Secretary of State’s Aurora campaign finance disclosure database.

That makes those reports immediately available to the public on the Secretary of State’s website.

The report is required only for those running in off-year municipal elections.

Carson City is not included in that list since its local elections are held in conjunction with statewide and national elections.

Supreme Court offers app allowing access to high court records

(Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau) —The Nevada Supreme Court is offering an application for iPhones and iPads that provides remote access to court documents.

The so-called “app” allows much the same access to documents that the public now has through the court’s website, including a search function to find cases and other materials.

“Today’s technology gives us options to provide better access to Supreme Court information and this app, combined with the court’s public portal, affords public accessibility and openness unimaginable in earlier times,” said Chief Justice Kris Pickering.

The app is available for free through Apple’s iTunes App store.

A spokesman said the court is working on an Android version of the app as well.
