Some tickets remain for the performance of Mike Farris & The Roseland Rhythm Revue tonight at the Art Center.

The concert by the nine-member ensemble, including a trio of back up vocalists and a horn section, promises to be a real musical treat.

Farris was named New and Emerging Artist of the Year by the Americana Musical Association and he is one of the most powerful, impassioned vocalists performing today.

Tickets are $17 for CAC members $20 for nonmembers and you can get your tickets for the show by calling Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440.

CAC’s fall film series will feature Big Screen Epics, films that are large in scope and running time that are visually enhanced by being shown on the big screen at the Art Center.

“Lawrence of Arabia” will be shown on Oct. 11, “Doctor Zhivago” will screen on October 18 and the series will conclude with “Once Upon A Time In America” on Nov. 1.

“Lawrence of Arabia” is one of the most critically acclaimed films ever made. The 1962 movie stars Peter O’Toole, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Omar Sharif and Jose Ferrer. It is the epic tale of T.E. Lawrence, who blazed his way to glory during World War I. Among its numerous awards were seven Oscars.

“Doctor Zhivago” was released in 1965 and stars Julie Christie, Rod Steiger, Omar Sharif, Geraldine Chaplin and Alec Guinness. It is the story of a young doctor/poet during the Russian Revolution and and it won five Academy Awards.

The last film in the series, “Once Upon A Time In America” was directed by Sergio Leone and released in 1984. It is the sprawling story of a group of close-knit gangsters in New York over the course of three decades. It stars Robert De Niro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern, Tuesday Weld and Joe Pesci.

All screenings will begin at 7 p.m. and the Art Bar will be open from 6 p.m. until the conclusion of the films.

Tickets for the films are $7 for CAC members, $10 for non-members and may be purchased in the Art Bar on the nights of the screenings. Special passes for all three films, $18 for CAC members, $20 for non-members, will be available on the evening of October 11. For more information, you can call CAC at 775-423-1440.
