The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District-Sierra Front Field Office, is seeking public comment about Storey County’s application for a 12.38-acre land patent under the Recreation and Public Purposes Act of 1926 for construction of upgrades to its wastewater-treatment plant.

The proposed upgrades would be part of the Virginia City and Gold Hill Wastewater System Improvements Project. Public comments will be accepted until Dec. 9.

People can submit written comments about the suitability of the land for expansion of the sewage-treatment facility. Comments are restricted to whether the land is physically suited for the proposed use, whether the use will maximize the future use or uses of the land, whether the use is consistent with local planning and zoning, or whether the use is consistent with state and federal programs.

Comments should be mailed to the attention of Leon Thomas, field manager, Sierra Front Field Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road, Carson City, NV 89701.
