Tournament of Talent — a Benefit for Shelly Hubbard will be held on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. as organizers present Fallon’s talented performers battling for the top prize.

According to Jane Moon, one of the organizers, this show is a fundraiser for Hubbard, who is battling Hyperpastic MDS and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Money derived from the talent show will help her with medical expenses.

Moon is asking anyone who would like to compete in the show to come to the auditions on Oct. 8 or 9 from 6-9 p.m. Competitors must make an appointment for the audition by calling Terra at 775-426-8024. A $20 audition fee will be assessed.

Moon said they are looking for all types of acts including the following: singing, dancing, juggling, comedy, karate, yodeling, instrumentalists, acting, etc. Individuals and group acts are welcomed. Not all auditions are guaranteed a performance. The prizes are first place, $250; second place, $100; and third place, $50.

Additionally, Moon said a panel of judges will narrow the selected talent down to a handful so the top three can be placed. Once performers are selected, the audience will decide whom the top three acts are. A purchased ticket allows the holder one vote; however, ticket holders may purchase more votes.

All tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the following businesses: Cobblestone Corner, First Independent Bank of Nevada, Jeff’s Digitex Printing and Robertson and Koening Optometry.

In between acts, Moon said an auction will be held to auction bachelors to the highest bidders.

Churchill County Middle School will also hold a fundraiser for Hubbard to help cover her medical expenses on Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m. CCMS will have a basketball game and bake sale.

To donate items for the bake sale, individuals may contact Amy Nichols at nicholsa@churchill.k12.nv.us or call 775-423-7701. People may also bring baked goods to the game.
