The commercial real estate partnership of Brad Bonkowski and Andie Wilson this week announced the opening of NAI Alliance Carson City, a brokerage the pair will own under a licensing agreement.
The agreement is with the NAI Alliance Reno office, which advertises itself as the largest full-service commercial real estate company in Northern Nevada. Bonkowski, who sits on the Carson City Board of Supervisors, and Wilson said their local brokerage will serve the area where they have worked for years. Formerly, they were associated with Coldwell Banker Commercial Premier Brokers.
“We have been looking for some time for a commercial real estate brand that would (1) allow us to continue as generalists, (2) offer us exclusive ownership and (3) be well respected in the commercial real estate industry,” Bonkowski and Wilson said in a news release. Each of them holds the CCIM designation, short for certified commerical investment member.
The pair will keep working with Cheryl Evans, certified property manager, who will own the property-management part of the firm.
The agreement was complicated because NAI Alliance in Reno is owned equally by eight partners — each of whom is a working commercial broker — and the Carson City office is owned by three working brokers, said Michael Nevis, a senior vice president in the industrial group of the Reno office.
Nevis is the manager of the Reno group this year, a position that rotates annually among its eight working brokers.
The switch wasn’t easy for the three Carson City professionals.
Bonkowski and Evans estimate that the brokers needed to file more than 150 forms with the Nevada Real Estate Division — some for themselves as licensed brokers, brokers of record and property manager — and some for the new company.
At the same time, Wilson said, she was meeting with the owners of more than 100 commercial properties listed for sale or lease with Coldwell Banker Commercial Premier Brokers. Each of those agreements needed to be redone with NAI Alliance Carson City.
Joining the three principals in the company are agents Rick Terrin and Ale Avila and property-management administrator Amber Cullen.
The firm’s office will remain at 223 S. Division St., and the main office number remains 775-888-6200.
