Three people were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno following a two-car crash about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 50 in Dayton, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Trooper Dan Gibson said the driver of a 2004 four-door, black Audi turned left onto U.S. 50, heading east, from Ambrose Lane in front of a red 2007 Wabash tractor pulling a trailer, which was headed west.

“The tractor struck the Audi in the driver’s door with its front pushing it off onto the south shoulder,” Gibson reported. “The commercial vehicle continued across both east and westbound lanes and overturned onto the north shoulder blocking all westbound lanes.”

The driver and passenger of the Audi were extricated and taken by Care Flight to the hospital, Gibson said. The driver of the truck also was hospitalized.

All lanes of U.S. 50 were closed in the area, and traffic was diverted onto side streets.

The NHP did not have information about the vehicles’ occupants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gibson at 775-687-0400 or dlopez@dps.state.nv.us regarding case number 140401874.
