Tumbleweeds Tumbling performs well at Vargas Invitational

Members of the Tumbleweeds Tumbling and Trampoline squad fared well at the Vargas Invitational in Santa Cruz recently.

“This was a really tough competition that showcased up and coming quality athletes. All of the Tumbleweeds athletes performed really well,” stated coach Matt Coyle. “This was the final regular meet for this season. This meet showed our athletes some tough competition, but I am confident that they will fine tune their skills and outperform their toughest competitors at state.”

Here are the local results:

• Brandon Basche (15+ boys) place 2nd, level 8 trampoline; 3rd, level 8 tumbling; and 4th, level 8 double mini.

• Mason Ogan (15 + boys) placed 1st, Level 9 trampoline; 2nd, Level 6 tumbling; and 1st, level 9 double mini.

• Gwenavere Christy (13-14 girls), placed 1st, level 7 trampoline; 2nd, level 7 double mini; and 1st, level 5 tumbling.

• Venture Bruner (11-12 girls), placed 1st, level 7 trampoline; 5th; level 7 double mini; and 1st, level 6 in tumbling.

• Tyra Best (11-12 girls), placed 4th, level 5 trampoline; 7th, level 5 double mini; and 5th, level 3 tumbling.

• Logan Nelson (11-12 boys), placed 2nd, level 7 trampoline; 1st, level 7 double mini; and 1st, level 4 tumbling.

• Andrew McMenemy (8-10 boys), placed 2nd, level 5 trampoline; 1st, level 5 double mini; and 1st, level 3 tumbling.

• Carly Steele (under 8 girls) placed 7th, level 4 trampoline; placed 4th, level 5 double mini; and placed 4th, level 3 tumbling.

Plumas Pines opens

for the season

Zimmerman records ace

at Eagle Valley-West

Chuck Zimmerman of Carson City recorded his first-ever ace on April 8 when he aced the par-3 7th at Eagle Valley-West. Zimmerman said the ball bounced twice before landing in the cup.

Zimmerman used a 30-degree hybrid for his shot which was witnessed by Bob Martin and Mark Kimbrough.

Three-way tie at

Silver Oak event

Don Fox, Ryan Livermore and Lee Plemel shot net 69s to tie for first in Flight 1 at Silver Oak’s Monthly Masters tournament on April 13.

Brian Gueri and John Owens were two shots back with 71s. John Carey won Flight 2 with a 71, one shot better than Dennis Prutch and two shots better than Mike Gaynor. Alex Dawers and Ryan Balik tied for fourth with 74s.

Sparman wins at

Carson Valley

Jack Sparman carded a net 65 to win Flight A at the recent Carson Valley Men’s Club stroke play event.

Bob Pemberton was second with a 70. Joe Morrison and John Dorman tied for top honors in Flight 2 with 68s. Howard Matts was third with a 71. Larry Lockwood won Flight C with a 60, five shots better than John Carey and Neil Bain.

Empire golfers travel

to Genoa Lakes

Marty Svette, Dick Montoya, Dahl Rask and Rich Bremenour combined for a 104 to win Flight A at the two-man best ball at the recent Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club tourney at Genoa Lakes on April 19.

Norm Scourging, Chris Nenzel, Greg Bentley and Albert Gianotti won Flight B with a 103.
