The County Commissioners held their first meeting of January on Thursday morning.

Churchill County District Attorney Arthur Mallory addressed the commissioners with his gratitude toward the Child Support Office for being the key players for receiving 100 percent on the Fiscal Year 2013 Federal Self-Assessment. The State of Nevada, Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services and Child Support Enforcement Program recognized the office for successfully achieving compliance in all eight compliance categories. Mallory said this is the first time Churchill County and possiblly the state has been recognized for the 100 percent completion. Mallory said for the last five years they have averaged between $1.5-2 million being brought into the county for the children of the county and it could not have be done without the Child Support Unit.

Mallory presented awards of appreciation to seven child support staff members including one student intern.

Items discussed and approved by the commissioners include the following:

Approved the application of the grant request to the Nevada Commission on Tourism for the amount of $40,211 through projects related to tourism grant for 2014.

Approved the amending contract between the county and David Neidert with Indigent Legal Services.

Approved the state of transfers as approved by the regional transportation commission subject to available funding as recommended by the county comptroller.
