Zoning consistent with Comstock Mining, Inc., growth goals in all the firm’s resource areas clicked into place with recent action by Storey County, company officials said Wednesday.
The company said action by the Storey County Board of Commissioners approved important zoning changes involving Lucerne Resource Area properties and claims, a critical prerequisite to requesting an expanded special use permit. Lucerne is the firm’s top area and the Dayton Resource Area is second, said the company, which earlier obtained “break-through zoning changes” in Lyon County for key regions of that area.
“During the first six months of 2014,” said Corrado De Gasperis, Comstock president and CEO, “we’ve increased the intrinsic value of our company and the Comstock communities by positioning and preparing our land for more productive uses.”
Comstock mines gold and silver, claims it has at least 3.25 million of gold equivalent proven and probable ounces in reserve, and looks to the Lucerne area for annual production rates of about 40,000 gold equivalent ounces.
