Commodity foods distribution is set for July 18

Friends In Service Helping will distribute free USDA Commodity Foods from 9-11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

No one will be admitted before 9 a.m. Security will be present to enforce the policy.

Carson City families only may be eligible by signing the “Issuance Sheet” at the Carson City Community Center certifying that their household’s annual income does not exceed federal poverty guidelines which are monthly gross income of $1,458.75 for a single person and $1,966.25 for a couple. For each additional household member add $507.50. Proof of Carson City residency is required. A picture ID/driver’s license must be provided. Food may be picked up for the home bound or those unable to attend by bringing a signed note from them and their picture ID.

F.I.S.H. and the State Commodity Food Program order all food that’s available. Persons declaring overly large families for commodities will be asked for proof of family members.

This month’s commodity foods include: mixed fruit, canned pears, mixed vegetables, carrots, pinto beans, peanut butter, cranberry juice concentrate, spaghetti pasta, macaroni, and frozen beef.
