The Carson Intermediate All-Stars were much more competitive on Saturday, but still remained winless at the Little League Western Regionals in Nogales, Ariz.

Carson fell to 0-3 in the tournament after falling 6-5 to Hawaii. But it was a much more competive game for Carson after it was routed in its first two contests by host Nogales and Northern California.

The top of the first inning saw Carson take an early lead, 2-0. Carson’s threat began with a single by Garret Damico. A single by Jared Barnard then moved Damico from first to third. Kahle Good Good also had an RBI single during the rally.

Damico had an RBI triple in the fourth and Landon Truesdale had an RBI triple in the sixth to pull Carson to within 6-5. Barnard also scored in the third for Carson.

Hawaii’s Shayden Banaay pitched 5 2/3 innings for the win. Nicholas Simpson went 3-for-3 for Hawaii, with singles in the first, third and fifth. Hawaii cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the first when Darien Robinson hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Banaay.

Hawaii scored four runs in the third to take the lead for good on the strength of an RBI ground out and two singles. Hawaii added a run in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead.
