Work begins Sunday night on the stretch of Carson Street from Fairview Drive south to the Spooner Junction.

Nevada Department of Transportation crews will patch and grind the surface to rehabilitate the four-lane roadway.

NDOT spokeswoman Meg Ragonese said all the work will be done at night — beginning at 8 p.m. and finishing at or before 6 a.m. She said crews will resurface one lane at a time so traffic will be restricted but not blocked off at any point.

“So usually there will be two lanes open,” she said.

She said the project is part of NDOT’s ongoing pavement preservation program.

“We try to identify anything in need of rehabilitation before it needs more drastic measures,” she said.

Ragonese said maintenance crews expect to be done with the project by the morning of June 12.
