An incident in which a deputy fired one shot with his firearm after a suspect displayed a firearm ended in the arrest of the suspect on Tuesday, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The suspect was identified as Florencio Brito, 32, of Silver Springs.

The deputy was conducting a follow-up on a battery investigation in the 3700 block of Cypress Street in Silver Springs when he made contact with the suspect. The suspect was non-compliant to verbal commands from the deputy, the sheriff’s office stated.

The sheriff’s office stated the suspect hit the deputy and attempted to run away. The deputy deployed a Taser, but it was ineffective.

The suspect then displayed a firearm at which time the deputy fired one shot during the incident, the sheriff’s office reported.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office investigators and the Nevada Division of Investigation reported to the scene. Brito was arrested at the scene and booked into the Lyon County jail on the suspicion of the following:

Battery on a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

Brito’s bail was set at $11,140.

The incident is still under investigation and the Nevada Division of Investigation.

A concurrent internal investigation is being conducted by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
