Vergine Louise Brown

“You are my sunshine my only sunshine”. Vergine Louise Brown, Harold Brown’s “sunshine”, was born on September 29th, 1930 in Buhl, Idaho to Bewley and Pauline Spencer. She met Harold Scott Brown when she was 16 and they were happily married for 60 years until he passed away in 2007. Vergine and Brown spent most of their lives together in Fallon and Reno, Nevada. Vergine worked as a school secretary for the Churchill County School District for over 30 years. Passionate about the well-being of her students, Vergine was a champion of the free breakfast program in Churchill County which ensured that all children were entitled to a warm meal at the start of the day. She also spent countless hours working for the PTA and other not-for-profit organizations supporting causes she believed in.

On March 1, 2014 at the age of 83, Vergine passed peacefully. She joined her late husband and her son, Spencer “ Scott” Brown who passed in 2005. She is survived by her two sisters, Doris Morin and Rita Wolfe, and her brother, Charles Spencer. She is also survived by her daughter, Rochanne Hackett, son-in-law James Hackett, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a niece, three nephews a great nephew and numerous cousins. She will be missed terribly and remembered always as a loving wife, caring mother, sister, grandmother and aunt.

Internment and graveside services will be held at the Churchill County Cemetary on Saturday March 15 at 10 am with a Celebration Of Her Life following at 2 pm at Mi Casa Too restaurant on W 4th St in Reno. In lieu of flowers we would like donations in her name made to the American Diabetes Association.
